The Magic City
The City of Miami offers all the amenities of a cosmopolitan city with a variety of unique neighborhoods. Skyscrapers soar above palm trees in Downtown Miami’s Historic Business District and Brickell - walkable communities where residents enjoy a vibrant urban experience - while tree-lined streets in Coconut Grove and “The Roads” offer charming single-family homes and prestigious private schools.
Miami may not make any top 100 lists for area or population, but our diminutive city is a world leader in finance, commerce, culture, media, entertainment, the arts, and international trade. Miami ranked seventh in the United States and 31st in the world on a metric of business activity, human capital, information exchange, cultural experience, and political engagement in A.T. Kearney’s 2019 “Global Cities Report”. In 2018, our city was rated the third most powerful global city (of 77 surveyed) in terms of purchasing power due to a combination of relatively high average earnings and relatively low prices. We are the “Cruise Capital of the World” and home to PortMiami, the busiest cruise port in the world in both passenger traffic and cruise lines. City of Miami is also a major tourism hub for international visitors, ranking second in the U.S. after New York City. We are also very proud of our beautiful skyline, which is the third tallest in the U.S.
